Corona virus in Africa

The continent of Africa has also been in the full grip of the Coronavirus. Believed to be one of the backward areas of the world, Africa is all set to take the fight head-on against the dreaded disease.

The first cases of the Pandemic was reported from Egypt and Nigeria on 14th Feb 2020. The spread of the virus in Africa is undetected in many places or maybe the spread has not happened much. It is a great worry because Africa has inadequate medical facilities to handle the pandemic.
The outbreak in Africa may jeopardize the economy of the continent along with that of the human life there. The place has challenges as to the funding, medical equipment and trained professionals to handle a widespread scenario of Coronavirus. Some countries may have some experience since they had fought Ebolavirus in the past.

WHO apprehend the implementation of hand wash, social distancing difficult in Africa. Moreover many countries are already fighting diseases like HIV, Malaria, Tuberculosis and Cholera. Though WHO has helped some countries to setup coronavirus testing facilities. Basic steps like the closing of schools, border closure, and travel restrictions have already been implemented. Many countries have announced lockdown of as long as 30 days.

Africa is a major part of the supply chain in the world with business opportunities with China which have been hit badly. Also, many foreign tourists visit Africa which obviously got affected by the pandemic. These have already given a shock to the economy.
